In a strategic move to bolster its leadership team, Pie Insurance, a prominent tech-enabled provider of workers’ compensation insurance to small businesses, has announced the appointment of four industry experts to its leadership team.

Carla Woodard, who has accrued over 25 years of claims management experience, has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Claims. In her new capacity, Woodard will oversee Pie’s workers’ compensation claims function, focusing on claim adjudication and subrogation.

Prior to her promotion, she served as the Director of Claims at Pie and held pivotal roles at Employers Insurance, contributing extensively to claims automation and workforce experience products.

Jaime Gilliam-Swartz joins the team as the Vice President of Customer Service and Operations. Drawing from her vast 25 years of experience, Gilliam-Swartz will take charge of Pie’s customer service, operations, and premium audit functions.

Her diverse background includes leadership positions at renowned companies like Eventbrite, Lyft, Intuit, GE, and Accenture, where she spearheaded customer experience initiatives and shared service operations.

Arash Sadati, a distinguished expert in AI and Machine Learning, assumes the role of Vice President of Data Science. With over 15 years of experience in responsible AI application, Sadati will lead Pie’s analytics team, driving the advancement of AI and Machine Learning capabilities.

His cross-functional collaboration across the organisation is poised to foster product innovation through these technologies. Sadati’s recent tenure at GEICO has further solidified his expertise in this field.

Kris Bagchi, an industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, has been appointed Vice President of Reinsurance.

Bagchi’s primary responsibilities involve developing Pie’s reinsurance programs and cultivating relationships with key broker partners. Having spent a significant portion of his career at TD Insurance/TD Bank in Canada, where he held roles in reinsurance, corporate insurance underwriting, and investments, Bagchi brings a wealth of strategic insights to his role at Pie.
