SUNLAND PARK, N. M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A borderland family is inviting the community to a fundraising gordita sale after they lost their home in a fire.
The gordita sale starts at 11 a.m. Saturday and will be held at 100 Palma Drive in Sunland Park, near McNutt Road.
Rosalia Gardea reached out to KFOX14/CBS4 after she lost a pet dog and two birds, plus all of her belongings in a Santa Teresa house fire.

Gardea said the incident has been especially difficult because she has a disabled 9-year-old daughter who hasn’t gotten used to their new environment.
“She’s had two brain surgeries and she’s autistic,” said Gardea. “She has accommodations in her room and [the home insurance] is not going to cover any of that, so we’re trying to make these fundraisers so once everything is done with the house we can have those accommodations for her.”
The gordita sale will go on until they are sold out.
If you would like to donate money, you can contact Gardea at 915-238-3186.
