Tim Temple will answer your questions at insurance town hall | News

When Tim Temple takes office as Louisiana’s new commissioner of insurance next month, his first order of business will be to tackle the crisis in cost and availability of property insurance.

On Thursday, Dec. 14, Temple will answer your questions about homeowners and other types of insurance in the state during a virtual town hall sponsored by AARP, hosted by columnist and editorial director Stephanie Grace.

“When an insurance company drops coverage on what’s perhaps your biggest financial asset, it hits the pocketbook hard. Quite frankly, it can be frightening because options are limited. Shopping for coverage is often confusing and financially out of reach,” said Denise Bottcher, state director of AARP Louisiana. “Many older adults’ homes are paid for and they are having to make tough decisions on a fixed income with little to no opportunity to get back into the workforce.”

“I understand that solutions to this crisis are limited. But with new leadership at the Department of Insurance, I am hopeful that all solutions are on the table. This crisis will continue to unfold and will impact the livability of Louisiana if we don’t address it head on with urgency,” Bottcher said.

Please submit your questions for Temple using the form here, and watch the town hall at nola.com or theadvocate.com next Thursday at 11:30.
