Incumbent GOP Rep. Wyman Duggan won re-election in Florida House District 12, which covers portions of Jacksonville’s Southside and Westside.
Duggan has served three terms in the Legislature. Four of the seven bills he sponsored in 2024 became law or had their companion bills passed.
Two of the bills he helped pass dealt with law enforcement, and he said in a News4Jax survey that he will continue to use his time in the legislature to reduce crime, as well as fight inflation and lower property insurance costs.
Florida House District 12 has gotten more conservative since redistricting, but Republican gains there have not been as significant as those in other parts of the state.
He defeated Democrat Benjamin Sandlin, a 21-year-old student at the University of North Florida. As of 9 p.m., Duggan won around 57% of the vote.
