PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Ahwatukee resident Cindy Galowitch says she’s a lot happier now that she has $4,400, thanks to On Your Side.
“It means everything to me,” Cindy said. “It’s just the greatest gift. God’s timing is always perfect.”
She went on to say it couldn’t have happened without On Your Side. “I’m very happy. I’m grateful to Gary Harper for, doing this for me and for what he does for everybody in the community.”
In a recent On Your Side report, Cindy explained how she had purchased a 7-day Hawaiian cruise for not only her elderly parents but also her and her adult son. The cost was $11,000, and the family was eager to set sail in February.
However, months before their departure, Cindy’s 92-year-old mom had problems with her heart, and the family agreed that it was too risky to cruise. Cindy explained, “Well, mostly it was because of her high blood pressure being erratic.”
Cindy says she canceled the trip and received about half the refund from Norwegian Cruise Line. The remaining balance, she was told, would need to come from Travel Insured International, which is the insurance company Cindy paid for travel insurance for when she purchased the cruise. However, Travel Insured International denied three separate times.
After fighting for a refund for 7 months, Cindy contacted On Your Side.
“My phone rings, and it says Gary Harper. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness!’” she exclaimed.
On Your Side asked Travel Insured International to review Cindy’s claim again and even forwarded them documentation from her mom’s doctor indicating it was risky to cruise. After reviewing the documents again, Travel Insured International immediately mailed Cindy two separate checks for the remaining balance, totaling just over $4,400.
Cindy says she owes it all to On Your Side for getting her money.
“It’s a shame that we have to go through this in the first place. But thank goodness that we have Gary (Harper) to step in and, be a liaison for us and get to the bottom of things. I’m very blessed,” she said.
