The fields of law and insurance are extremely complicated for the layperson, with documents full of terms and concepts that may as well be a foreign language to those unfamiliar with them. Without the help of a professional who’s well-versed in both legal and insurance industries, people may miss out on benefits covered by their policy and be denied the compensation they may deserve.   

Seeing how insurance beneficiaries and policyholders who are overwhelmingly from the working and middle classes are at a major disadvantage, attorney Anthony M. Lopez decided to take up the cudgels for them, founding the specialist law firm Your Insurance Attorney.  

Anthony was born in 1978 in Miami, Florida, the third of five children in a Cuban-American family. From a young age, he was interested in entrepreneurship, having founded and managed several businesses to support his education. He was also passionate about sports, joining the rowing crew in college. Anthony gained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida International University in 2002 and his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University College of Law in 2005, having won multiple awards. 

Soon after becoming licensed to practice law, Anthony joined a boutique law firm with several other attorneys as one of the firm’s name partners. There, he specialized in commercial litigation, insurance defense, and plaintiff work. A landmark case in Anthony’s career was when he successfully co-represented a Florida couple against a major insurance company that refused to honor their homeowner’s insurance policy in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The case, which was brought before the Florida Supreme Court, set a legal precedent for similar insurance disputes in the state. 

Eventually, Anthony decided to separate and establish his own firm, Your Insurance Attorney®, in 2019, which allowed him to focus more on insurance litigation. After beginning in Florida with fewer than five people, Your Insurance Attorney has grown to more than 250 employees, expanding outside the Sunshine State and opening offices in Georgia, Colorado, and North Carolina. To date, Your Insurance Attorney has recovered more than $1 billion in insurance compensation for its clients, thanks to Anthony’s almost two decades of experience in insurance litigation, particularly in property insurance. He has handled cases of all sizes in this segment, from homeowner insurance disputes to commercial property claims worth multiple million dollars.  

Anthony is a member of the following bar organizations: Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, Dade County Bar Association, and Cuban American Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in the Southern and Middle District of Florida, the State of Colorado, and before the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Outside of law, Anthony is a motivational speaker who encourages young people to pursue their passions. Speaking of passions, Anthony is into aviation, having obtained a pilot license in 2016 and jet certification in 2020. He is also an amateur race car driver and has a personal collection of supercars that includes a 1927 Bugatti Type 40 and a 2023 Lamborghini Ultimate Roadster. Completing the trifecta of air, land, and sea, Anthony has maintained his passion for rowing, sitting as a board member of the Monica Burguera Foundation, which focuses on safety education for boaters.  

Anthony is extensively involved in philanthropy, with efforts including lending his plane to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant a wish for a child with cancer and serving on the board of directors of Kristi House Children’s Advocacy Center in Miami. These have led to him being named one of the 12 Good Men for 2023 by Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Hispanic Heritage, Whitney M. Young, and Lifetime Achievement Awards by the South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America. Anthony has also appeared on the reality TV series Real Housewives of Miami, alongside his fiancee, Dr. Nicole Martin, on the show’s fourth and fifth seasons.  

Despite so much going on in his life, Anthony’s zeal for defending the rights of insurance policyholders remains as strong as ever. He plans to lead Your Insurance Attorney through a new stage of growth, including geographic expansion by opening offices in more states and cities and increasing the firm’s practice areas to serve more diverse clients. 

“My main reason for becoming an insurance lawyer and establishing Your Insurance Attorney is because I want to fight for the wellbeing of the people and get them the compensation they may deserve,” Anthony says. “I want insurers to do right by their customers, and Your Insurance Attorney guides our clients throughout the entirety of their cases and makes sure their rights are respected.”
