Our methodology

To determine the best car insurance companies in Florida, CNBC Select analyzed dozens of U.S. insurance companies offering car insurance coverage in the state.

When narrowing down and ranking the best car insurance companies, we focused on a sample premium from the CHOICES Rate Comparison Tool from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation for a single, 25-year-old female driving a Toyota Camry 12,000 miles per year with one minor violation and one not-at-fault accident in the previous three years. We gathered annual data for full coverage for the sample driver in Miami-Dade, Duval, Orange, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and averaged them to find the average annual sample price for full coverage. We also gathered and considered complaint index data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and customer satisfaction ratings from J.D. Power’s 2023 US Auto Insurance Study.

Note that the premiums and policy structures advertised for auto insurance companies are subject to fluctuate in accordance with the company’s policies.
