The City of Alexandria is hosting an event this weekend that will let local drivers get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle and take them for a spin.
The Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Chinquapin Park (3210 King Street).
A release from the City of Alexandria said other electric devices, like e-bikes and scooters, will also be available to test out.
“Learn about and test drive different electric vehicles from local dealerships, and micromobility devices, like e-bikes and scooters from local shops and dockless mobility operators,” the release said. “Get your questions answered about federal and utility incentives for EVs and chargers to see which EV is right for you!”
Those hoping to test out electric cars at the event should bring their driver’s license; some dealerships also require proof of car insurance.
The city has been making a push in recent years to install more electric vehicle charging stations around the city.
