As if buying a home wasn’t already a big enough challenge, now homeowners in states with frequent disasters like floods and hurricanes are getting slapped with major spikes in insurance rates.
Americans in states like California, Texas, and Florida are already saying that the natural disasters in their communities have made their homes unaffordable. On top of this, insurance companies are now dropping coverage for homes and apartments in high-risk areas.
