A husband and wife lost their 40-year wooden home to fire Saturday on Dunromin Road. The uninsured house will require demolition.
LITTLE CYPRESS, Texas — A family escaped injury Saturday when fire destroyed their wooden home that had been in their family for 40 years on Dunromin Road.
The homeowers safely evacuated the wooden house that had been in their family for four decades, according to Chief Matt Manshack.
Orange County Emergency Services District 3 responded to the fire with mutual aid from Orange County Emergency Services District 4.
The home was uninsured because the family could not find an insurance company willing to provide coverage for a house made of wood.
While Chief Manshack said the home is not a complete loss, it will need to be torn down.
No firefighters were injured during the response. The displaced family is currently staying with relatives.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
