Janet Martin, 94 of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She was born in Haverhill, MA, on February 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Lane) Coleman.
Janet was raised in Newburyport, MA, and graduated from Newburyport High School with the class of 1949 and Lynn Burdett Business School in Lynn, MA, in 1951.
She was employed as an office manager for the Newburyport Press and later for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Buffalo, NY, before returning to Massachusetts. After raising her family, she returned to work as a bookkeeper for Orthopedic Associates in Andover, MA before retiring in 1992.
Janet moved to Hampton in 1999 and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish and active with the Stephen Ministry and outreach program.
She shared 50 years of marriage with her late husband Frederick “Pepper” Martin who predeceased her in 2005.
Janet leaves her sister Mary Jennell of Melbourne, FL, her four children Judy Martin of North Andover, MA, Ronald Martin, MD, and his wife Amanda of Woolwich, ME, John Martin and his wife Nancy of Andover, MA, and Cindy Martin of Bow, NH; grandchildren Justin and Katie, Audrey, Elizabeth, George, several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Thomas and Donald Coleman and her sisters Alice Henning and Eileen Marshall.
The family would like to thank the staff at Webster at Rye for their excellent care and her friends at Stephen Ministry for their care and friendship.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, Hampton. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Newburyport, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
