Lahaina Jewelry reopens after 2023 fires

LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) – Lahaina Jewelry reopened nearly three years after burning down in the 2023 fires.

The family-run business secured a shop less than a mile away from their original store on Front Street.

The business is run by owner Victoria Doan, her son Byron, her daughter Tina Doan Delima and Tina’s sons Maddox and Jackson.

Victoria fled her homeland of Vietnam during the war in the 1970s, came to Lahaina and started the business with nothing.

Over the decades, it evolved into a beloved jewelry shop on Front Street specializing in fine jewels and Hawaiian heirlooms.

When the fire hit on Aug. 8, 2023, Lahaina Jewelry was the oldest mom-and-pop jewelry shop on Front Street. She also lost her home and didn’t have business insurance, forcing her to start over again.

“Some when they saw me, they cry, they hug me, and they say because of me is the reason why they come back to Maui, and that means a lot to me,” she said.

Tina said their family has been through a lot in the past 32 months.

“The hardest part was that we lost my dad about 18 months ago and we started the rebuild process basically right after the fires. But unfortunately, he passed and I hope he’s just looking from above … happy and stoked that we are able to reopen again,” Tina said.

Tina said they looked at potentially reopening in other towns, but it was important for them to be back in Lahaina where they have poured their hearts and souls into for more than 35 years.

“Not going to lie, a pretty hard journey. Mom lost her home and the store, but our shop was everything. So we put all of our resources, our focus on rebuilding this shop for her,” she said. “I’m just so happy to be back. We get to see people again.”

“I just tell the people I’m so happy for their support and we cannot do without them. We cannot have the shop or we cannot do the business without them. So I’m so happy to see them to come here to support,” Victoria said. “I love my customers.”

Lahaina Jewelry will be hosting a grand opening on Saturday, April 11th at 11 a.m. at its new location at Lahaina Cannery Mall next to the Bank of Hawaii.

They hope everyone will celebrate this special milestone with them.
