Los Gatos Rotary Club co-hosting ‘Embrace Equity’ event – The Mercury News

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, but several local Rotary clubs will recognize women throughout the month. The Los Gatos Rotary Club and others from the area are hosting an “Embrace Equity” event on March 19.

The event, which will be held at the Rotary San Jose Summit Center at 88 S. First St., will include a panel discussion featuring powerful Bay Area women like San Jose State University President Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, Lisa Guathier with the SIlicon Valley Leadership Group and moderator Suzanne St. John Crane, CEO of the American Leadership Forum.

The event runs 4-7 p.m. and will include drinks and appetizers. Tickets are$30-$60 at https://rotarydistrict5170.org.

Fire safety

This spring, the Santa Clara County Fire Department will hold several online webinars to help prepare residents for the area’s unpredictable fire season. In April, the department will host information sessions on ways to reduce damage to the home during wildfires, as well as sessions on how to navigate evacuations during high-stress situations. In May, officials will teach residents about how to use home insurance as a “safety net.”
