How did you get into the insurance industry?

I began my career in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster in 2014. I found that too many policy holders were not being taken care of properly by their agents when it claims arose. I wanted to do my part in changing that and made the switch to agency side of the business in 2015,

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting new clients and working with them to create insurance solutions that fit their needs. My goal is to find out what is most important to them and craft solutions that are personalized and make sense to them.

What’s something you wish everyone knew about insurance?

The true cost of having limits that aren’t enough when claims happen. Many times, having the proper limits on your property, or liability limits on your auto insurance, costs very little more but can protect you in such significant ways.

What’s something you wish everyone knew about working with a local agent?

Having a local agent can be such a difference maker when claims arise. As an independent agent, I don’t work for any specific insurance company. I work for you. My job is to be an advocate for you when handling claims on your behalf.

What factors should someone consider when exploring their insurance options?

Price is an important aspect of choosing the right insurance for you, but coverage should be your primary concern. A cheap policy can be cheap for a reason, and unless you are well versed in insurance contracts, you will likely not know what is covered until you need to file a claim. The job of your agent should be to know what coverage you want and present options for you.

What would you tell someone who’s on the fence about getting a personalized insurance policy quote?

Most insurance companies charge the same for your policy whether you have an agent or not. So why not have an agent working on your behalf rather than a 1-800 number to call?

What do you like most about the Rochester area?

My family and I are not from Southeast Minnesota originally. When we moved here, people were so welcoming. We have found some truly great friends here and the support of the local community as been such a wonderful surprise.
