My auto insurance is costlier than home insurance and the car itself

To the Editor:

America is a country that welcomes insurance. But I think there is abuse. I do not understand why an automobile policy for used cars like mine, with a driver without accidents or DUIs, costs the same as the one for a new house, which is a much more expensive asset. Three to four years of policy premiums will match the whole cost of my car, that I drive less than 4,000 miles a year, mostly within the city limits. No wonder why so many people are driving uninsured.
