Nuveen announces two new hires to drive its institutional insurance business

Global investment management firm, Nuveen has announced two strategic hires for its institutional insurance business.

Lara Devieux has joined as Senior Managing Director, Head of Insurance Product, and Joseph  Pursley has joined as Managing Director, Head of Insurance Distribution, Americas.

The company has announced these hires it continues to expand its insurance specific asset management content and capabilities across the US and globally.

Within her role, Devieux holds responsibility for developing, structuring and launching investment strategies uniquely designed for insurance clients, which includes assessing existing solutions as well as building and customizing proprietary tools designed to support the insurance client sales process.

In addition, Devieux is based in New York, and reports directly to Deann Morgan, Head of Global Product.

She joins from MetLife Investment Management, where she most recently served as Head of Insurance Advisory & Solutions. Prior to that, she served as Vice President, Global Investment Research at Goldman Sachs.

Furthermore, within his role, Pursley is responsible for leading Nuveen’s insurance asset management efforts in the US, Canada and Latin America.

At the same time, he will also work with Nuveen’s global distribution teams to implement a globally coordinated and locally executed, approach to insurance. He will also work closely with Nuveen’s Responsible Investing team as the firm engages with insurance companies on various ESG integration and impact investment topics, and assist them as they navigate their bespoke sustainability journeys.

Pursley is based in Philadelphia, and reports directly to Dimitrios Stathopoulos, Head of Americas Institutional Advisory Services.

He joins from Allianz Global Investors where he most recently served as Managing Director and Head of North America Insurance Distribution. Before that, he worked for Aberdeen Standard Investments for over 11 years where he was responsible for business development across insurance general account, defined benefit, defined contribution and corporate balance sheet assets.
