USAA has gone to the dogs, in the best possible way.
The San Antonio-based financial services and insurance company on Wednesday introduced Smoky, its first K9 Ambassador and “Chief Pawsitivity Officer,” a certified therapy dog whose job description appears to include boosting morale, building connections and being professionally adorable.
Smoky was donated to USAA by K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit that provides trained service dogs to veterans. USAA said the new four-legged executive is inspired by a World War II therapy dog who became a symbol of comfort and resilience for service members.
The company also announced a $60,000 grant to K9s For Warriors to support the training and placement of service dogs with veterans.
Smoky will support employee well-being, military community engagement and “moments of need,” including helping members after catastrophic events, according to USAA.
