BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – After an apartment building in Bismarck caught fire a few days ago, many people are questioning how much of the damage will be covered by renters’ insurance.
You can find continuing coverage of the fire here.
It can pay to replace a lot of things, such as furniture and other kinds of personal property.
An insurance agent in Bismarck also said that renter’s insurance can cover loss of use, which would pay for temporary expenses.
“It would get you money to pay for a hotel room, pay for going out to eat, if you need to take your clothes to the laundromat, go to Walmart and get a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, anything that you need that is a temporary living expense,” said Tammie Schmidt.
Renters’ insurance usually costs between $10 and $30 a month.
