Maruti Suzuki has entered into SUV playgrounds with their exciting lineup. The brand is making sure that it is not left behind in the new race of SUVs. We saw the unveiling of new SUVs from the brand which are going great in the market but what’s left behind is a premium MPV. There are talks about an upcoming Maruti MPV that is also likely to be the safest car from the brand. Which is this new MPV? Let’s know more.
Safest Maruti car – Rebadged HyCross
The combined forces of Maruti and Toyota have given rise to new-age modern cars with economical hybrid and other bi-fuel technologies. This mutually beneficial agreement has led to the upliftment of the product portfolios of both these brands. Another one to jump on the bandwagon could be the badge-engineered version of the Toyota Innova HyCross.
What could it get?
Largely being the same car based on the TNGA-C platform, the Maruti would inherit the same tech with strong hybrid technology paired to the 2.0-litre petrol engine (184bhp and 188Nm of torque) and an eCVT gearbox. Whereas, the regular 2.0-litre pure petrol model (173bhp and 209Nm) could be Maruti’s strong hand with some tweaks to the variant lineup. Maruti could be hoping high on pure petrol due to the concrete perception of Maruti’s petrol engine. This could benefit the brand by even exemplifying its portfolio in the premium category. If brought into production, the car will be manufactured in the same Bidadi, KA plant of Toyota Kirloskar Motors.
Other details
As aforementioned, Maruti Suzuki will focus on the pure petrol variants of the car. So, we can expect attractive prices for the particular variant. Then, if we move to the strong hybrid, it will carry all the possible features that include wireless charging, Ottoman rear seats, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, JBL premium sound system and more. The exterior design could be tweaked in order to differentiate it from the Toyota model. So, we can expect few nips and tucks in terms of exterior styling and nominal changes in the interiors.
When could it launch? The launch timeline of the Maruti version is not yet defined but there are talks of the same. The pricing of the pure petrol model could be aggressive whereas the strong hybrid could be priced similarly. If launched, the Maruti HyCross would be the first car from the manufacturer to get ADAS. Lastly, it could be sold through the NEXA premium dealership network.
