Former Issues bassist/vocalist Skyler Acord along with his family have launched a GoFundMe to assist in financial support after both he and his wife have suffered from mold toxicity.
Acord’s mother shared the following:
I come to y’all with a momentous financial solicitation. This time it’s for my kids Skarly (Skyler & Carly Acord).
This past July, after moving into a new apartment, they became mysteriously ill with neurological problems, vision issues, extreme fatigue, panic attacks, and consistent coughing. BOTH HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH MOLD TOXICITY.
This stuff ain’t no joke, y’all.
They’ve had multiple doctor’s appointments, ER visits, and follow-up therapy. Insurance does not cover ongoing medical treatment for mold. Also, during this same time, Carly was pregnant through IVF. The procedure was not progressing normally. It is now believed, due to the effects of mold in her body she miscarried.
Skyler writes, produces, and teaches from his home office with high-end instruments and gear. He’s been out of work for two months due to illness. And, unfortunately, he had to throw away a lot of his musical equipment.
In addition to spending thousands to move for a second time in October, the couple was forced to discard every piece of furniture they owned, most of their clothing, shoes, rugs, etc.
The landlord covered only a hotel for a week. RENTERS INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER MOLD. They are fighting for any type of compensation. The claim is still in progress.
They’re in trouble, y’all. They’ve emptied their savings of 22k. Living on credit cards has them 7k in debt.
If you’re able to help this young couple in any way, financially or otherwise, PLEASE find it in your hearts to do so. Any amount will help tremendously. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and THANK YOU.
I appreciate you reading this far. If nothing else, I hope this has been informative for you or anyone else who may ever have to deal with mold and insurance.
