(LILAMAX)- Financial markets continued to climb despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding negotiations between the United States and Iran.
President Donald Trump said over the weekend that any agreement must include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and cooperation from Iran to have its highly enriched uranium destroyed. The lack of a major breakthrough in negotiations helped push oil prices higher, while the U.S. dollar also strengthened as tensions remained elevated in the Middle East. Despite those concerns, investors continued to focus on economic growth and artificial intelligence-driven gains.
The Dow closed above 51,000 as stocks extended their rally.
Meanwhile, a new report suggests homeowners may face increasing challenges when filing insurance claims. According to the Wall Street Journal, the nation’s five largest home insurers did not pay out on more than 44% of claims resolved last year, up from 36% a decade ago. Industry analysts say insurers have become more aggressive in reviewing claims as they respond to years of losses following the pandemic.
New research from Bank of America also highlights differences in earnings growth among workers. The report found younger employees often benefit significantly from changing jobs. Generation Z workers experienced the largest gains, with after-tax wages increasing four times more than those of workers who remained with the same employer. Researchers found older workers and top earners generally see better financial outcomes by staying in their current positions.
Walmart is also expanding its delivery business. Some drivers in the company’s Spark delivery network are now handling orders from restaurants located inside Walmart stores, including McDonald’s locations. The move marks another step in Walmart’s efforts to broaden its delivery operations and compete in the growing food delivery market.
