The Drum | Ad Of The Day: Inhabitants Of Disney's Haunted Mansion Seek Home Insurance From State Farm

A promotion for the new Disney’s Haunted Mansion film will have viewers wondering if State Farm insurance covers property damage caused by ghosts.

What’s spookier than a haunted house? State Farm says an uninsured haunted house.

State Farm Insurance and Walt Disney Studios recently released an ad promoting Disney’s Haunted Mansion, a new supernatural comedy with a star-studded cast, including Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto. The film hits theatres nationwide on July 28.

In the spot, Jake from State Farm assists the mansion’s new owner, Gabbie (played by Dawson), as she discusses some of her hypothetical homeownership insurance needs — such as a chandelier falling out of nowhere. He happy answers her questions, telling her about State Farm’s agent and filing a claim on the the brand’s mobile app. The film closes on a jump-scare, as the two walk in on an apparition playing a pipe organ.

The new spot, ideated and developed by creative agency The Marketing Arm (TMA), is part of State Farm’s ongoing ‘What If’ campaign, which leans into the common concerns people have about the potential outcomes of owning a home. The campaign will span TV, streaming services, social media and more.
