Summer travel in Europe is becoming even more affordable: a popular low-cost airline has announced the launch of new flights from Romania to popular seaside resorts. Tickets priced at around $30 open up new opportunities for tourists looking for budget routes to the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas. Find out which destinations the airline is adding and when the flights will start
Wizz Air continues to expand its presence in Romania and has announced new summer routes for 2026. The Hungarian low-cost airline is launching flights from Cluj-Napoca Airport to two popular holiday destinations — the Mediterranean and the Adriatic.
New routes for summer 2026
From the end of May, the airline will begin operating flights to the following destinations:
✈️ Cluj-Napoca — Malta: flights every Monday and Friday, starting on 22 May 2026;
✈️ Cluj-Napoca — Dubrovnik (Croatia): flights every Tuesday and Saturday, starting on 23 May 2026.
At the start of sales, ticket prices start at 129 Romanian lei — that’s about $30 or just under 1,300 hryvnia at the current exchange rate. Traditionally, such fares are available in limited quantities, so when planning your trip, it is worth booking in advance.
Romania remains one of the key aviation hubs in the region, especially for travellers from Ukraine. Cluj-Napoca is located approximately 260 km from Mukachevo and about 350 km from Chernivtsi, making this airport a convenient alternative for flights to Europe and the sea.

Wizz Air in Romania
The airline currently offers around 238 routes from 14 Romanian airports, connecting the country with 83 destinations in 27 countries. In almost two decades of operation in Romania (since 2006), the carrier has opened nine operating bases and created over 1,600 jobs.
Romanian airports are located relatively close to the border with Ukraine and have convenient ground connections. Many travellers combine a bus or train trip to these cities with a subsequent flight. It is convenient to plan and book tickets for all types of transport — air, bus or train — through the booking system on Visit Ukraine, which allows you to put together your itinerary in one place.
Reminder! European flights are becoming more accessible to Ukrainians thanks to new routes offered by budget airlines. Find out where you can fly with new Wizz Air flights from Iasi and Chisinau in 2026.
