Water Districts 5, 12 to begin fire hydrant testing on Monday
Published 3:55 pm Saturday, November 19, 2022
Utiliserve, a contractor hired by Water Districts Nos. 5 and 12, will begin conducting fire hydrant inspections, flushing, and testing on Monday, Nov. 21.
These activities ensure that all hydrants are functional and meet firefighting requirements for the districts’ Property Insurance Association of Louisiana fire insurance rating.
This process may cause discolored water in the areas being flushed. If you see the Utiliserve crews in your area, the districts recommend limiting the use of water in your home, if possible. This will help lessen the chance of getting discolored water in your home.
If you do experience discolored water in your home, run your tap for around two minutes to see if the discolored water clears. If this does not resolve the problem, call 337-721-37543 and the districts will take steps to flush the discolored water from the lines. Residents with any questions or concerns can also call this number and ask for Carie Davis.
