Greater Millsboro chamber welcomes new board members, appoints president

The Greater Millsboro Chamber of Commerce recently announced the appointment of Kim Benton as its new president and welcomed three distinguished professionals – Steven Tyson, Lou DiMeglio and Shannon Schnabele – to its board of directors. Each brings unique talents, extensive experience, and a shared commitment to fostering economic growth and community enrichment.

Benton, a local State Farm agent, is succeeding Mike Dunmyer, who will continue as a board member. Benton has been an integral part of the chamber for many years, contributing to strategic planning and program development, and representing the chamber at various events and meetings.

A native Delawarean and lifelong Millsboro resident, Benton joined State Farm in 2015, specializing in auto, homeowners, life, renters, condo and boat insurance. She also assists people relocating to Delaware. Known for her deep understanding of Millsboro and her strong business acumen, Benton is widely regarded as a go-to person for getting things done.

Tyson serves as philanthropy officer for Beebe Medical Foundation, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit fundraising experience including over a decade in the healthcare sector. At Beebe, Tyson manages a donor portfolio and serves as the primary liaison for the Beebe Medical Group, working to meet financial goals that support critical community health initiatives. He is passionate about reducing healthcare disparities, expanding access to quality care and boosting Sussex County’s economic vitality. His active involvement in local organizations and frequent participation in community events reflect his commitment to engagement and positive change.

After a distinguished 26-year career at the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey, including 20 years as supervisor of buildings and grounds, DiMeglio retired in 2022 and relocated to Millsboro with his wife Cindy. Together, they own and operate Cindy’s Wicked Stitch, a popular local quilt store.

His extensive expertise in operations, maintenance and event planning brings valuable insights to the chamber as it continues to expand its calendar of events. He is dedicated to ensuring the seamless execution of chamber activities with a focus on creating memorable experiences and fostering community connections.

Schnabele, an associate broker at Indian River Land Company, moved to Delaware in 2002. Since then, she has built a successful career as a Realtor while engaging in numerous community initiatives. With a diverse professional background in aviation, public relations, marketing and sales, her multifaceted expertise offers fresh perspectives for the chamber. Schnabele’s passion for building strong communities aligns perfectly with the chamber’s mission to support local businesses and enhance the quality of life in Millsboro.

The combined expertise and dedication of these new directors will help drive the chamber’s mission to support businesses, promote community engagement, and ensure the continued growth and success of Millsboro and its surrounding areas.
