Amber Heard’s insurance company refuses to cover damages from Johnny Depp’s suit

Amber Heard is currently involved in a fresh legal dispute, this time with her insurance provider, making it appear that troubles and she are two sides of the same coin. After the defamation trial in Virginia, the actress had anticipated that a portion of Johnny Depp’s settlement would be covered by her insurance. The actress was only given $2 million in the June 1 verdict; instead, she was ordered to pay her ex-husband $10.35 million. Heard had hoped to receive some of the $8.3 million owed to Depp through her insurance provider, however, it has been claimed that the company has turned her down.

The insurance company is not obligated to pay anything, though, if the insured individual has committed “WILLFUL” wrongdoing because the insurance policy is in California and is subject to California law. The New York Marine and General Insurance Co. argue that they won’t pay Heard any money since the court determined that she defamed Depp with “malicious” intent.

Heard’s current problems are the result of her purportedly asking for a mistrial on the grounds that one of the jury members was substituted during the trial. According to the 36-year-old actress’ attorneys, “a 77-year-old and a 52-year-old both live at the location where the summons was received in April,” according to Entertainment Weekly. The 52-year-old allegedly showed up for the trial even though the elder was really summoned to testify. So, according to a motion submitted by Heard’s team, the 52-year-old who served on the jury for six weeks was never called for jury duty on April 11 and did not “appear in the list.”
