The Boat America class includes a book, exam, wallet card and certificate of completion as well as lunch provided by Oakland Yacht Club.
Led by certified US Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors. This basic boating course is suitable for adults and teens and sea scouts. Good for beginners and experienced hands. Topics include introduction to boating, boating law, safety equipment, basic navigation, trailering, storing your boat, issues related to hunting, fishing, water skiing, and river boating.
Successful completion of the class may entitle you to a discount on your boat insurance and you may qualify for the California Boater Card.

Everyone will need a CA Boater Safety Card. Deadlines by age:
Persons 50 years of age or younger – January 1, 2023
Persons 60 years of age or younger – January 1, 2024
All persons regardless of age – January 1, 2025
