Car insurance rates in Washington state may rise with ongoing tariffs | Spokane News

Car insurance rates in Washington state could see a significant increase this year if tariffs remain in place. According to a report by Insurify, rates are projected to jump by 7% by December, compared to a 4% increase without tariffs.

This rise would bring the average full-coverage policy to about $2,155 as higher import costs for auto parts drive up repair bills. Meanwhile, in Idaho, rates have remained more stable, decreasing by 6% since January. The average policy in Idaho costs $1,400 a year, nearly $900 below the national average.

Even with new tariffs factored in, rates in Idaho are expected to hold mostly steady. Experts say inflation, accident rates and extreme weather are also contributing to higher prices, making it a good time to shop around for policies.
