Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, the reinsurance brokerage arm of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., on Monday named Richard Hakes global head of marine, energy and technical lines.
He will report to James Boyce, CEO of Global Specialties, and join the Global Specialties leadership team. Mr. Hakes will lead a team of nearly 100 executives in the role.
Mr. Hakes previously led Guy Carpenter’s international marine business. He joined the broker in 2012 from Cooper Gay Swett and Crawford Ltd., which was purchased that year by reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker Ed Broking Ltd. BGC Partners Inc. acquired Ed in 2018.
