Kenneth “Ken” Longo Sr., 84, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away at home, on June 3, 2025, in the presence of family after a hard-fought battle with Leukemia.

Ken was born on February 6, 1941, the third child of Antonio Longo and Zerilda Longo (nee Caron) in Putnam, Connecticut. He graduated from Putnam High School in 1959, where he was the salutatorian of his class. In 1963, he graduated from Wesleyan College (University) in Middletown, CT, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. On June 18, 1966, Ken married Mary Louise DeSantis, and they had three children, Kenneth Jr., Christopher (Sol Armada) and Ann (Michael Raffaele). After a five-year stint as an insurance examiner with The Aetna Insurance Company, he attended Villanova Law School in Villanova, PA, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1972 with the devoted assistance and hard work of his wife.  He worked for the Southeastern Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and later as Deputy City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia until 1983 before going into private practice as an attorney specializing in civil engineering projects.

Ken was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team for more than fifty years. He loved mystery novels, particularly those of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his famed detective, Sherlock Holmes. Ken had a lifelong passion for classical music. He was the proud owner of over 7000 classical music recordings, which he lovingly gathered and meticulously curated for much of his adult life. A real “Renaissance Man,” Ken also was a superb cook, an avid long-distance runner, classic film buff, handyman, and keen student of history, particularly that of the Second World War.

Ken is survived by his three children, his granddaughter Cornelia Longo Armada, his sister Barbara DeGregorio of Rutherford, New Jersey, and his two brothers Nicholas Longo and Thomas Longo of Putnam, Connecticut, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 58 years. He will be missed by all for his calm demeanor, sharp wit, and his kind and generous heart.

Services were private. Donations to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the ASPCA are encouraged.
