LEHIGH VALLEY AND POCONOS, Pa. – An insurance agency that’s been a fixture in the Lehigh Valley and Poconos for more than 70 years is expanding its footprint.
YMI Insurance announced on Wednesday, April 1, that it’s acquiring the Robertson Insurance Group in Bethlehem and the Carl H. Myers Agency outside Allentown in Lower Macungie Township.
Moving forward, YMI will have offices in Bethlehem (925 W. Broad Street), in Lower Macungie Township (4800 Hamilton Boulevard) and in Stroud Township, Monroe County (205 Lifeline Rd #101).
According to YMI President Jimi Honochick, the acquisition doubles YMI’s size and quadruples the number of clients it serves in the region. YMI is retaining all of the licensed agents from both agencies, giving it a combined staff of about 27.
“At a time when insurance agencies across the country, including here in the Lehigh Valley, are being acquired by private equity-backed firms, this combination sends a different message: that investing in our communities, our people, and our clients is what matters most and what we will always do at YMI,” said Honochick.
YMI began operations in Bethlehem and the Poconos in 1955. It offers life insurance, business insurance, personal insurance and insurance for specific industries.
