March 16, 2025 – Mariposa County Library officials announce they are hosting a broadcast about an important event focused on the California property insurance crisis.
This virtual event will be held in the Mariposa Library Community Room on Thursday, March 27 from 12:30 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. Registration is not required.
California has become increasingly disaster-prone, with devastating wildfires tearing through communities and leaving property owners, businesses, and renters with nothing. As a result, insurance companies have grown more reluctant to cover areas with high fire risk, leading to rising premiums and limited coverage options.
Join CalMatters Economy Reporter Levi Sumagaysay for a discussion about challenges of getting property insurance and what the state is doing about it. This is being held in conjunction with the California State Library.
