New York drivers face a 13.5% average increase in car insurance premiums for 2025, the fourth-highest in the nation, according to ValuePenguin.
While this hike is lower than 2024’s 16.9% increase, New York remains among the most expensive states for car insurance.
The average annual premium for full coverage in New York is $3,916, third-highest nationally and 48% above the U.S. average.
Progressive and NYCM offer the lowest rates, while Geico and Allstate have the highest. Nationally, premiums will rise 7.5% on average, marking the seventh consecutive year of increases.
