South Bend Fire Department Investigators have turned control of the scene of the LaPorte Avenue house over to the insurance company.

Fire investigators are continuing with the property investigation and examination so a comprehensive determination can be released.

They say the investigation is going to take time due to the number of interested parties that have come forward and that there is no concrete timeline at this time. TIt is frustrating to and for the members of the Smith family, the public, and the Investigation, but the coordination of all interested parties must be adhered to.

The fire department also says as new information becomes available, the South Bend Fire Department will release the information as needed, to preserve the continuity of the examination and investigation. This could be months from now.
