The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has introduced additional support for entrepreneurs amid the energy crisis. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced the new aid package, noting that the goal of the decisions is to help small businesses stay afloat and ensure energy independence during this difficult period.

Who among individual entrepreneurs can receive the payment

Individual entrepreneurs in groups 2–3 who work in socially important areas can count on one-time financial assistance. These are establishments and services of primary necessity: cafes and restaurants, pharmacies, coffee shops, grocery stores, bakeries, and other similar areas.

An important condition is the presence of at least one employee. The amount of the payment will depend on the number of employees.

How much will be paid

The amount of one-time assistance ranges from 7,500 to 15,000 hryvnia. The more employees an entrepreneur has, the higher the amount of support. These funds may only be used for their intended purpose — to improve the energy efficiency of the business.

The money can be used to purchase or repair energy equipment, buy fuel for generators, and pay for electricity supply services.

0% loan for energy equipment

In addition to direct payments, the government has launched another support tool — preferential 0% loans. Sole proprietors and enterprises that meet the conditions of the ‘5–7–9%’ programme will be able to obtain a targeted loan for the purchase of generators and batteries.

The interest on such loans will be compensated by the state through the Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Loans are provided by about 50 partner banks of the programme for a term of up to three years, and the maximum amount of financing reaches 10 million hryvnias.
