Two women are facing charges after police said they ran an insurance fraud scheme out of a Doral clinic.
Valentina Villa Del Gordo and Sonia Villa Mizarvera are charged with racketeering, filing false insurance claims and organized fraud, accused of filing insurance claims for two men who police said staged a car crash back in May.
The women, who worked at Calama Accident Care Center, billed an insurance company for medical services and physical therapy they never gave, using blank and post-dated forms signed by patients, police said.

“It’s very common. We see it very often,” said Jose Beaumont, an insurance agent with Miami Insurance Brokers. “People open up practices with the intent, thinking, ‘oh, we can get away with this kinda thing,’ but down the line, people always get caught.”
Beaumont said people use different ways to try to defraud insurance companies.
“Your arm hurts, but maybe you can say your neck hurts, or you have long-term back pain,” he said. “And that amplifies the amount of damages that they can bill to the insurance companies.”
But Beaumont said it’s not just the insurance companies who feel the impact of fraud.
“This causes the entire state to have higher premiums because of their loss ratio,” he said.
Companies usually recoup their losses by driving up prices on everyone else.
“They simply transfer the cost over to the consumer, so we are all paying more for insurance because of fraudulent people in the state,” Beaumont said.
The women have also been charged with grand theft. A third woman was also initially charged but was released on recognizance.
