Life is expensive, but buying auto insurance for young drivers doesn’t have to be

CAA Insurance Company offers a new discount for safe drivers under the age of 25

While it seems the cost of just about everything is on the rise with little relief in sight, it actually is possible to save money on auto insurance for young drivers.

The CAA Head Start Discount™ is a new discount being offered by CAA Insurance Company to principal drivers under the age of 25 whose parents are safe drivers in good standing and insured with CAA Insurance. Young drivers could save 25 per cent on their insurance costs.

Being innovative to find savings for drivers is nothing new for CAA Insurance. Throughout the pandemic, CAA Insurance led the insurance industry by providing both rate reductions and financial relief benefits.

“During that time, we began thinking about what we could do to help Ontario families with young drivers; we came up with the idea of the CAA Head Start Discount,” says Matthew Turack, group president at CAA Insurance Company.

Turack says they created the CAA Head Start Discount in an effort to help modernize auto insurance in Ontario, becoming the first to bring this level of savings for young drivers to market.

“Young principal drivers often pay higher insurance premiums and are typically painted with a broad brush, regardless of their driving experience or behaviour,” Turack adds.

CAA Insurance Company analyzed the data, and it showed that young drivers who continue to be insured alongside their parents – who themselves are good principal drivers – tend to make good decisions and exhibit responsible driving behaviour.

“We believe these young drivers deserve a break and a head start when it comes to getting insurance,” he explains. “By offering savings to young drivers who are in good standing, CAA Insurance aims to encourage and reward proactive and responsible behaviours, ultimately benefiting families and promoting safe driving.”

Turack says CAA Insurance is proud to provide such a large discount for young drivers when they come together with their parents or as a family unit.

“We strongly believe that by acknowledging responsible driving behaviour, this initiative will not only benefit families financially but also promote and reward safer driving practices.”

The CAA Head Start Discount is now available. If you are not already a CAA Insurance customer, a quick and complimentary policy review from a licensed agent or broker will determine if you and your children are eligible. Check with your local CAA Insurance agent or broker for more details.
